The appearance of a new generation of Opel models has recently been not a frequent occurrence, the company's financial instability, small differences between generations and the usual German minimalism. The best-selling model of the company is considered the Opel Corsa, and despite the fact that the circulation of the car is small, it has been in demand since the first generation appeared.

For the first time, the Opel Corsa was presented in 1982, and with short interruptions, the model is being produced to this day. After the merger of Opel and Peugeot, information appeared about the use of common developments to create new generations. Such actions are very well reflected on the sixth generation of the Opel Corsa. The trick is that the new Corsa is essentially based on the Peugeot 208, although the design still has that very German minimalism.

The arrival of the new, sixth generation Opel Corsa was not spontaneous news. Almost immediately with the appearance of the new generation Peugeot 208, it became known that a new generation of Opel Corsa was preparing for the premiere on the same platform. The exterior of these two cars is not quite similar, but there are still some moments, as they say, French design with sustained notes of German minimalism. In comparison with the previous generation, the new Opel Corsa has become "evil", with pronounced character traits.

The front of the hatchback is highlighted by a small black plastic grille with a branded mesh background. Not without a twist, the designers added two horizontal chrome lines and, of course, a branded zipper on the emblem in the center of the grille. Initially, it was assumed that a new emblem would be installed on the sixth Opel Corsa, but for some reason they did not do this.

No less anger is hidden in the front optics of the Opel Corsa, and in some features it resembles the same Peugeot 208 in a new body. Below and above, the optics received LED running lights, but the basis will directly depend on the configuration. The basic version will receive halogen bulbs, the other two configurations of the Corsa will get LED optics. In summary, it all looks strictly and without unnecessary elements.

Nevertheless, Opel Corsa did not receive vertical LED running lights from Peugeot, and it would have looked like a regular copy-pass, and the Germans do not like this. That is why, instead of running lights, small LED fog lights with black plastic inserts were installed on the sides of the bumper.

The front bumper of the Opel Corsa itself looks serious and complements the character of the car. In the lower part, an additional radiator grille is inserted over the entire width, it also serves as a holder for sensors and sensors for security and comfort systems. The bumper itself got an aggressive look, the same as most of the front end parts.

The front end of the Opel Corsa is completed by a hood and a windshield. The windshield is not particularly surprising. Do not expect heating or other features that are so often installed on new cars. As for the bonnet, it looks no less aggressive than the other parts in front of the hatchback. The side sections are adorned with a curved edge that extends from the A-pillars to the radiator grille.

If the exterior of the new Opel Corsa looked stylish and menacing, then there are claims to the interior, especially to the functional part. In terms of the configuration, the car is not poor, even in the basic configuration there is a multimedia system and a digital instrument panel, similar to how it was implemented in the Peugeot 208, but the design and solutions leave you expecting the best.

The central part of the panel received only the essentials. In the center is the display of the multimedia system, on top of a pair of air ducts. Next to the display is a start / stop button for the engine, and below is a control panel for navigation, multimedia and mobile communications.

Most of all complaints remain with the display and the solution of the engineers.According to the standard, the manufacturer installs a 5 ″ display of the multimedia system, then, depending on the configuration and the wishes of the buyer, the display can be 7 ″ or 10 ″. But the main disadvantage remains that the image itself will be the same as on a 5 ″ display. This is best seen on the 10 ″ display, where the image is simply limited to black frames.

It turns out that with a change in the diagonal of the display, you get the maximum additional touch buttons on the sides, but not an enlarged or improved image. At the heart of multimedia are simultaneously three operating systems Mirror Link, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The list includes voice control, mobile communications, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth, USB port and navigation.

The central part ends with a small climate control panel in a modern design and a recess for storing small items or gadgets. There is also a 12V outlet and a USB port for recharging. Whether there will be wireless charging on board the new Opel Corsa is still unknown, since it is not on the price list.

The central tunnel of the hatchback is modern and without unnecessary details. At the very beginning, the transmission lever is located, behind it is the button for the electromechanical parking brake, the button for folding the side mirrors and a pair of cup holders. A spacious armrest completes this set. In addition to pluses, there are also small minuses, firstly, the glossy coating around the gearshift lever, literally from the first day of use, it will show noticeable fingerprints, and eventually minor scratches. Secondly, the buttons located in front of the gearshift lever are small in shape and it will not be so easy to press while driving.

Now about the interior of the Opel Corsa 2020. In previous generations, it was not very spacious, and, despite 5 seats, most often 4 passengers could fit. The new Opel Corsa received a new platform, which led to an increase in free space in the cabin. If in Peugeot it was made futuristic, with handles on the sides, a designer display and thought out to the smallest detail, then in Opel Corsa they did not complicate the task and simply installed the display at 5 ″ or 7 ″, while adding curly plugs on the sides.

All this looks pathetic and not quite stylish, but there is an even greater minus in the arrangement and display of devices on the display. For example, when the navigation maps are displayed, the speedometer is located almost in front of the beacon. In fact, the driver sees the map itself, warning signs, but what is happening ahead on the map he simply cannot see because of the speedometer. It is also a minus that it is impossible to configure the tidy, the location of the devices or other components. We'll have to settle for one of the factory setting modes.

The steering wheel of the Opel Corsa hatchback, in contrast to the tidy, looks modern. Leather upholstery, heating, adjustable height and depth, as well as driver settings memory. The underside of the handlebars is flat and looks stylish and takes up less space underneath.
