The third generation Kia Sorento very quickly squeezes out the second, which was fully launched in 2009. The new mid-size crossover, due to the success of its predecessor, will amaze with its large amount of space, both for passengers and luggage, as well as numerous innovative technologies.

Kia Sorento 2015 significantly changes its appearance - from sharp lines the Korean company Kia Motors abruptly turns into a smooth, sleek and sinuous style, emphasizing the complex, bold, but at the same time strong character of the car. Kia Motors has always tried to significantly change the design of its cars, unlike Volkswagen and Audi: there are practically no cars of different generations of the same model range with a similar style and design in their line.
The face of the new Sorento has large fog lights, as well as a new radiator grille with a characteristic three-dimensional diamond pattern. A similar grille was seen on the 2013 Kia Cross GT concept car.
Three design studios have worked on the design of the car - Namyang (KIA's own studio in Korea), designers from Frankfurt (Germany) and Irvine (California).
At the first glance at the car from the side, you can immediately safely say that the body has become clearly longer and more aggressive. The length became 4780 mm (95 mm more than that of the Kia Sorento II "was 4685 mm"), the width added 5 mm and became 1890 mm (it was 1885 mm), but the height decreased by 25 mm to 1685 (it was 1710 mm), which in turn, improved the stability and handling of the car on the track.
They decided to make the body colors in stylish classic shades - black, white and light brown.
One of the innovations in the bodywork was its laser welding - now the car body looks clean and solid, as laser welding makes the seam lines invisible.

Auto designers from Korea and Germany have worked hard on the new interior of the 2015 Kia Sorento III. The interior has become more sophisticated and luxurious in comparison with the previous model: the materials of decoration have become much better quality. The interior of the car is dominated by leather, high-quality, pleasant to the touch plastic and aluminum inserts on the steering wheel, around the air flow guides and on-board computer.
The interior features a new central control console for the vehicle's electronics, which includes the latest HMI panel (Human Machine Interface) with a large display, with a choice of leather or fabric upholstery. The color scheme will only be in solid black or two-tone - black-brown (stone), in English these colors sound like Saturn Black and Stone.
Comfort, convenience and new technologies
The interior of the Kia Sorento 3 has become much more spacious and comfortable, and all thanks to the large body dimensions and an elongated wheelbase, which added 80 mm and became 2780 mm. The luggage compartment has increased from 515 to 605 liters (VDA), an additional compartment is also located under the floor cover for storing a spare tire, tools and a fire extinguisher.
The 2015 Kia Sorento will have a standard 5-seater, but there is also a 7-seater option. The second row of seats was divided into three parts (in a percentage ratio of 40/20/40) for more convenient folding.
Innovative technologies include advanced functions for driving and using the machine, for example - Around-View Monitor. This indicates the presence of 4 cameras in the car, which will help simplify your parking and movement in a place with poor visibility. And the Smart Power Tailgate function allows you to open the tailgate in automatic mode if the key "senses" that it is in the immediate vicinity of the trunk of the car.
In the process of creating the new Kia Sorento III, engineers took care of strengthening the car frame and increasing the body skin to improve NVH parameters (noise, vibration, stiffness). Noise insulation materials have become thicker by 29% compared to the previous model.

To meet growing consumer expectations, engineers have revamped the engine, suspension and steering.
You can buy a 2015 Kia Sorento with a power plant of different types and capacities (from 172 to 270 hp)... As a rule, not all countries will be able to access the selection of each of them.
There are 5 types of V6 engines available:
- 2.4 l - gasoline engine with direct fuel injection (GDI - Gasoline Direct Injection)

- 3.3 L - MPI gasoline extractor
- 2.0 l - turbodiesel
- 2.2 l - turbodiesel
Europe will get only two engines - a 2.4-liter gasoline GDI and a 2.2-liter turbodiesel. What will fall between Russia and Ukraine is not yet known, but, as always, small displacement models.
The racks have retained the format of the previous model: in the front - MacPherson, in the back - a multi-link system. But they suffered a number of modifications:
- to improve handling, large shock absorbers are now positioned vertically behind the axle line;
- to reduce vibration in the cabin, larger bushings were installed on the rear panels that support the suspension.
After these changes, the car became softer and more comfortable for long journeys on uneven roads.
Improved passive and active safety of the Kia Sorento 3
The "skeleton" of the new Kia Sorento 3 has become significantly stronger than that of the second generation thanks to the extensive use of ultra-high-strength steel (UHTS). The previous model had 24.4% extra high-strength steel in the body, and the third generation was 52.7%. Also, more durable steel was used for the wheel arches to reduce the noise from road debris in the form of pebbles that hit them while driving.
The new Sorento has more than double the amount of hot stamped steel (up from 4.1% to 10.1%), which significantly strengthens the front columns of the car.
Depending on the market, the buyer will be offered a list of available active safety features.
Of the active safety systems of the machine, the following can be distinguished:
- ASCC (Adaptive Smart Cruise Control) - adaptive, smart cruise control;
- LDWS (Lane Departure Warning System) - a system that gives the driver a sound signal if he deviates from the selected lane;
- FCW (Front Collision Warning) - warning about the danger of a car approaching in front;
- BSD (Blind-Spot Detection) - a tracking system for "blind spots";
- LCA (Lane Change Assist) - an assistant when changing lanes to another lane (the computer, thanks to the rear sensors, notifies about the presence of cars that are eating in the next lane behind Sorento);
- RCTA (Rear Cross-Traffic Alert) - the system notifies about other cars that are moving behind Sorento in parking lots when reversing;
- SLIF (Speed Limit Information Function) - the system displays the driver's speed limit on the dashboard based on cameras to detect road signs.
2015 Kia Sorento III Price
The price for new 2015 Kia Sorento cars for Russia and Ukraine has not yet been announced by the manufacturer, but they hinted at an approximate cost - the price will start from $ 35,900 and end up to $ 43,000 or more.
Korea, Asia and Europe and America will be able to buy a new Sorento this year, but we will obviously have to wait until early 2015.
