Review of new production cars from Ssang Yong - XIV-Air and XIV-Adventure. Photos and specifications.
SsangYong's new XIV-Air convertible and XIV-Adventure micro SUV were unveiled at the 82nd Paris Motor Show on October 2, 2014. The car will be sold initially in Korea and some other adjacent Asian countries. We plan to sell about 100 thousand SsangYong XIV-Air 2015 in a year.
There will be produced 2 versions of cars that belong to the B segment (SUV):
- XIV-Air - convertible with non-standard Targa-style removable roof;
- XIV-Adventure is a mini crossover with a roof.
While the body of the SsangYong XIV-Air is made in black and white, the interior is dominated by a range of white and dark blue. These colors complement each other, creating a sense of interior space and sportiness, while some metallic details in the center control panel infuse a futuristic interior design.

These new Ssang Yong models will be the first to introduce several new technologies: a fuel-efficient Stop / Start system and three intelligent electric steering modes. Also, the new SsangYong XIV 2015 will have all-wheel drive (AWD), but this will come as a separate option at an additional cost. Most of the cars will be front-wheel drive.
New items will include:
- smart RDS & Bluetooth audio system;
- heated ventilated driver's seats
- Bluetooth Hands-Free;
- digital two-zone air conditioner;
- rear view cameras for parking;
- on-board computer with a large screen;
- tire pressure monitoring system;
- electric sunroof on the roof.
Also, the cars can be classified as particularly safe due to the presence of an electronic vehicle stabilization system (ESP) and the presence of seven airbags: double front, side, curtains and driver's knee. Cars will have HID xenon headlights.
SsangYong XIV 2015 will ship with Hill Start Assist system... It allows the driver, when climbing a hill (10% or more), to release the brake pedal without any problems (the car will stop) and then calmly pressing the gas pedal to start a smooth upward movement. It is very convenient, this system works with both automatic and manual transmissions.
New Emergency Stop Signal system will also be present in the base trim Ssang Yong XIV 2015 release. ESS automatically activates the emergency system during emergency braking. Turning on the rear emergency flashing lights will warn the vehicle moving behind about a malfunction, thereby preventing an accident.
