The new BMW 1-Series (serial number F40) was first unveiled by the Bavarians in May 2019. In comparison with its predecessor, the car received not only obvious external and internal changes, but also moved to a new front-wheel drive "bogie" UKL.

The official premiere took place in September of the same year in Frankfurt, after which the model gradually began to arrive at the company's dealerships.

The hatchback has become noticeably better, it has lost many of the "sores" that have followed the model since its inception, so it has every chance to melt the hearts of potential buyers, but we will be able to find out only after a while.

External appearance

During the update, the proportions of the body changed noticeably in the BMW 1-Series: the hood became shorter, the length of the front overhang increased, and the distance between the front door and the front wheel arch was reduced.

The “muzzle” of the car received an enlarged “nostrils” of a false radiator grille, a modified head optics and a new front bumper, into which a small air intake and thin strips of fog lights are neatly mounted.

The knocked down and taut profile, although it has lost its aggressiveness (in comparison with its predecessor), still looks very dignified. That only there are circular wheel arches, embossed sidewalls, a domed roof and stylish alloy wheels.

The rear of the car is represented by menacingly squinting side lights, a monumental bumper with a pseudo-diffuser and a compact luggage compartment lid topped with a small spoiler.

External dimensions of the BMW 1-Series 2020:

Length, mm4319
Width, mm1799
Height, mm1434
Wheelbase, mm2670

This means that the "one" has become 34 mm wider and 13 mm higher, but the overall length and wheelbase have decreased by 5 and 20 mm, respectively. The exact ride height has not been reported.

Potential buyers can choose from several standard body colors or order their own exclusive color. It is also worth mentioning that earlier the car was equipped with 18-inch disks as much as possible, and now - 19-inch.

Salon BMW 1-Series 2020

The interior of the new BMW 1-Series has become noticeably more modern, better quality and more spacious. It's no joke - despite the reduction in the length of the wheelbase, the increase in the legs of the front riders was 42 mm, while the width and space in front of the knees of the rear passengers increased by 19 and 33 mm, respectively.

A chubby three-spoke multifunction steering wheel and a classic dashboard are standard in front of the driver, but a completely virtual cockpit can be ordered as an option.

In the central part of the dashboard, there is a 5.1-inch screen of the media information complex (optionally with a diagonal of 8.8-inches), and directly below it is the music and air conditioning control unit. The build quality, ergonomics and quality of finishing materials are fully consistent with the premium status of the car.

High-quality and comfortable chairs have a wide range of adjustments, good lateral support and various benefits of modern civilization.

Between the seats of the first row there is a central console, on which there is a compact armrest, a gearbox selector, a pair of cup holders and a media center control washer.

The second row of seats is profiled for two riders, but if necessary, a third passenger can also sit here, however, he will have to put up with a short cushion and a high transmission tunnel.

The luggage compartment volume has increased by 20 liters and now stands at 380 liters. With the second row seats lowered, its volume increases to 1200 liters, and the luggage compartment lid is now equipped with an electric drive.
