The Rover company started its work back in 1887. Initially, the manufacturer produced bicycles and motorcycles until 1925, then switched production to automobile production. To date, the manufacturer has been taken over by the automotive giant Ford. The manufacturer set a point in its history back in 2005, then many series of cars were released for the last time.

One of such examples of cars can be considered the Rover 75. The first generation was released in 1998, and in 2005 the last generation rolled off the assembly line. Not to say that the car has changed a lot over the years, but the differences are still noticeable. During the release, two bodies were available: a station wagon and a sedan. The only differences are in the rear, so consider the latest generation Rover 75 sedan. Production started in 2004, but a year later (in 2005) the plant ceased to exist.

Rover 75 sedan exterior

In the appearance of the latest generation Rover 75 sedan, British style is immediately recognizable. Strict features, restrained design and massive details. As some car enthusiasts might say, the Rover 75 sedan is similar in many parts to the Jaguar of those days. Not infrequently, there have been cases when inexperienced motorists could confuse, since the design is very similar.

The front of the Rover 75 sedan is decorated with a small chrome grille, for a top-end configuration with a V8 engine, the grille will be large from the hood to the very bottom of the front bumper. The upper part of the radiator grille is adorned with the signature shield emblem with the Rover wordmark and the ship in the center. During the existence of the brand, the emblem has hardly changed.

Most of all, the front bumper of the Rover 75, made in the form of a mask, stands out. It covers the entire front of the sedan. The front optics, unlike the previous generations, are solid and only inside consists of two round lenses, similar to those in BMW. It is based on halogen technology. The lower part of the bumper is decorated with an additional grille and two small holes on the sides. On the left and right on the bumper of the Rover 75, designers have installed halogen-based foglights.

The Rover 75 V8 package features a modified front bumper and additional fog lights in the upper part of the front bumper. The sedan's hood is austere and aerodynamically well thought out. There is a convex line in the center that divides the hood into two even halves, two more lines extend from the radiator grille to the A-pillars. Those who know cars well will say that the equipment of the Rover 75 V8 is very similar to the Chrysler 300C, in particular the radiator grille and front optics.

The windshield of the Rover 75 sedan does not stand out, but if you look closely, you can see the chrome edging around it. This is an indicator that there is a sealing gum around, and the glass, in fact, is inserted and clamped with an elastic band.

The side of the Rover 75 sedan is the same for all trim levels. A chrome strip extends from the front optics to the hind feet. The door handles, regardless of the Rover 75, are chrome-plated in a consistent style. The side mirrors are located in the corner of the front door. In the basic configuration of the sedan, they are mechanically adjusted, and in the maximum configuration they will be electrically operated, folding and heated.

The front fender is highlighted by an additional turn signal, also in a chrome edging. The last curved line at the bottom of the doors is a kind of molding, but without an overlay. On the threshold of the Rover 75 sedan, designers have added a chrome trim, which well emphasizes the style of the car. From the side, the sedan looks restrained and has a minimal amount of any curved lines.

The dimensions of the latest generation Rover 75 sedan are:

  • Rover 75 length - 4750 mm;
  • the width of the sedan is 1780 mm;
  • vehicle height - 1390 mm;
  • wheelbase - 2750 mm;
  • front and rear wheel track - 1505 mm;
  • ground clearance - 155 mm (for V8 and MG Zt trim levels - 120 mm).

The weight of the Rover 75, depending on the configuration, is about 1200-1600 kg, the curb weight of the sedan is about 1400-1655 kg. A fuel tank is installed at the back, a standard volume of 65 liters. For a full turn, the Rover 75 sedan needs a diameter of 11.4 meters. At the base, branded 15 "alloy wheels with an emblem in the center and 205/65 tires are installed, the charged equipment will be equipped with 17" wheels. The volume of the luggage compartment of the Rover 75 is 432 liters, which is a lot, as for such dimensions of a sedan.

The body color of the latest generation Rover 75 sedan is very diverse:

  1. black;
  2. burgundy;
  3. beige;
  4. White;
  5. golden;
  6. Gray;
  7. green.

The manufacturer of the Rover 75 sedan offered the buyer to independently choose the body color in order to please the client as much as possible and attract new ones. You can also make other exterior details chrome-plated, adding severity and restrained style to the car.

The rear of the Rover 75 sedan, like the front, is somewhat similar to the Jaguar models. Big feet, a bulging boot lid and the Rover logo on the boot end on a chrome strip are a luxury of the time. The center was taken under the license plates, making an additional chrome frame.

The rear bumper of the Rover 75 is very simple and does not stand out in any special shapes. The sensors and parking sensors are clearly visible across the entire width, and behind the diffuser in the lower part, the designers hid the car's exhaust system. At the top of the rear window, an additional LED stop repeater was placed, which is clearly visible in bad weather.

The last thing to consider in the exterior of the Rover 75 is the sedan roof. In the basic configuration, it is solid, and the maximum and average configurations will be equipped with electric sunroofs. For an additional fee, you can install roof rails for the additional roof rack.

The conclusion about the appearance of the Rover 75 sedan is the British sustained style, a minimum of bends and lines, as well as a considerable number of chrome elements that give the car austerity on a black background.

Rover 75 sedan interior

The interior of the Rover 75 2005 car is not very attractive, but it looks luxurious. The front panel is adorned with polished walnut veneer, if desired, this wood can be replaced with polished aluminum or something darker. All interior details are made in an oval or round shape, which speaks of the retro style of the car and its English roots. The shape of the front panel of the Rover 75 is unusual, the upper part protrudes relative to the middle, thereby creating a visor. All devices are made in an oval shape, the center is separated by two air ducts and a mechanical clock. A little to the right, there is a hidden airbag with a highlighted edging. The engineers did this so that in the event of a minor accident it was not necessary to change the entire front panel, but it was enough to replace the insert with a new one. On the other hand, the instrument panel was placed. The instrument scale clearly shows the British style, cream background and austere dial, similar to that installed on old cars.

In addition to the speedometer and tachometer, engineers installed an on-board computer display, a fuel level and engine temperature sensor on the instrument panel of the Rover 75 sedan. The central part of the front panel is occupied by an audio system, in the basic configuration of the Rover 75 it is a conventional cassette, and in the top configuration, the engineers installed a combined audio system with a color display. The combo audio system can read old cassettes and CDs at the same time.

A little lower placed the control panel for dual-zone climate control, an innovation of the time. Without exception, all the buttons on this panel are oval, which spoils the design of the Rover 75 a little.Even below there are several buttons for controlling the heated front seats, an ashtray, a cigarette lighter and an additional charge from 12V.

Near the gear lever there is an emergency parking button, opening the trunk lid and the fuel filler flap. The steering wheel of the Rover 75 is very massive, the upper and lower parts are decorated with wood inserts, and the center and sides are covered with leather. For maximum configuration, the steering wheel is equipped with volume control buttons and a navigation map.

Unlike the round and oval shapes of the front panel of the Rover 75, the seats are made in a strict, sustained style. Small lateral support, separated headrest from backrest and soft comfortable fit. A high armrest and a mechanical handbrake were placed between the seats. The rear row of seats of the Rover 75 can accommodate three passengers, each with ample space and a headrest for each. Also, rear passengers can adjust the temperature and recharge their gadget from 12V charging between the front seats.

The interior color of the Rover 75 is made in British style:

  1. black;
  2. beige;
  3. snow white;
  4. Brown.

If desired, the buyer could choose a different color, which was not on the list, but he also had to pay extra for the corresponding price. The designers used only high-quality leather, velor and real metal chrome decorative elements as the upholstery material, but the first basic configurations of the Rover 75 sedan came with a fabric interior.

In general, the interior of the Rover 75 is not bad for that, rich equipment, a considerable set of comfort systems and high-quality cladding material, but still this is not something that can now be seen even in the basic configuration of an inexpensive foreign car.

Specifications Rover 75

In the automotive market, the Rover 75 sedan of 2004-2005 is presented with 6 different engines, both gasoline and diesel. The first on the list is a 4-cylinder gasoline engine with a volume of 1.8 liters. The power of such a unit is 120 hp, and the maximum torque is 160 Nm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission. Depending on the selected gearbox, there will be different dynamic indicators of the Rover 75.

Having chosen the mechanics, the maximum speed of the Rover 75 is 195 km / h, and the acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes 11.6 seconds. Fuel consumption in the city is 10.6 liters, on the highway - 6.1 liters, and the mixed cycle will require 7.8 liters of gasoline. In terms of CO2 emissions, the figure is 185 g / km. Together with an automatic transmission, the Rover 75 sedan will be able to accelerate to 190 km / h, and will overcome the first hundred in 13.2 seconds. In terms of fuel consumption, the sedan will require 7.5 liters on the highway, 12.6 liters in the city, and 9.4 liters of gasoline in the mixed one. The emission of harmful substances CO2 is not more than 224 g / km.

The same engine, with a volume of 1.8 liters, but slightly modified and turbocharged, will be able to produce 150 hp, maximum torque of 215 Nm. Paired with a manual transmission, the Rover 75 sedan will be able to accelerate to 205 km / h, and acceleration to 100 km / h will take 10 seconds. Fuel consumption has changed slightly, in the city the figures are 12.8 liters, outside the city - 6.6 liters, and in the combined cycle - 8.9 liters. CO2 emissions - 205 g / km. Choosing a manual transmission, the maximum speed is 210 km / h, and acceleration to a hundred takes 9.6 seconds. In the city, the sedan will require 11.3 liters, on the highway - 6.1 liters, and in the combined cycle - 8 liters of gasoline. The CO2 emissions are 193 g / km.

The next, third version of the Rover 75 sedan engine is a diesel CDI with a volume of 2 liters and a power of 116 hp. The torque of this unit is 260 Nm. With a manual transmission, the Rover 75 has a top speed of 193 km / h, and the sedan can accelerate to 100 km / h in 11.7 seconds. Fuel consumption is slightly less than that of a gasoline counterpart, on the highway - 4.7 liters of diesel, in the city - 7.7 liters, mixed cycle - 5.8 liters. CO2 emissions are slightly reduced at 163 g / km.

Choosing an automatic transmission, such a sedan will be able to accelerate to a maximum of 190 km / h, and it is possible to overcome a hundred on the speedometer in 13.2 seconds. Consumption in the city increased significantly - 10 liters, on the highway - 5.2 liters, and in the combined cycle - 6.9 liters. The CO2 emissions have changed accordingly - 190 g / km.

The turbocharged version of this 2L CDTI diesel engine can produce 131bhp. Maximum torque 300 Nm. On mechanics, acceleration to hundreds takes 11 seconds, and the maximum speed is 193 km / h. Diesel fuel consumption in the city is 8.1 liters, on the highway - 4.4 liters, and in the combined cycle - 5.8 liters. CO2 emissions 163 g / km. The Rover 75 complete set with an automatic transmission will be able to accelerate to 100 km / h in 11.8 seconds, and a top speed of 190 km / h. In the urban cycle, 10 liters of diesel will be required, on the highway - 5.2 liters, and in the combined cycle - 6.9 liters. The CO2 emissions are 190 g / km.

The penultimate version of the unit on the Rover 75 sedan is a 2.5-liter V6 gasoline engine. The power of such a unit is 177 horses, with a maximum torque of 240 Nm. By choosing mechanics in pair with the engine, the Rover 75 sedan will be able to accelerate to a maximum of 215 km / h, and accelerate to 100 km / h in 9.5 seconds. Gasoline consumption in the urban cycle is not very economical - 15.5 liters, outside the city - 7.5 liters, and in the combined cycle - 10.5 liters of gasoline. CO2 emissions have grown significantly at 249 g / km. The equipment of the Rover 75 sedan with an automatic transmission is even more voracious. Fuel consumption in the city is 17.2 liters per 100 km of track, outside the city almost 9 liters, and the combined cycle will require 12 liters.

The latest version of the Rover 75 engine, it is also the most charged - a gasoline V8 with a volume of 4.6 liters and a power of 260 hp. The maximum torque of such an engine is 410 Nm, and the maximum speed is 243 km / h. Up to 100 km / h such a charged Rover 75 sedan can accelerate in 7.2 seconds. But the fuel consumption is even higher than in previous engines, in the city the indicator is 18.3 liters, on the highway - 10.5 liters, and the combined cycle will require 13.4 liters.

The engineers of the Rover 75 paid special attention to the body, making it rigid with new alloys. A MacPherson strut is installed in the front, and a revolutionary Z-shaped suspension at the back. This special suspension geometry ensures minimal vibration while driving.

By the type of drive, all Rover 75 sedans are front-wheel drive, the brake system is both front and rear disc. In an automatic transmission, there are three modes of movement: normal, sport and winter.

As you can see, the Rover 75 sedan was originally designed for strength and quality, and modern technologies of those times were not inferior to competitors. Even today, you can find a sedan on the car market, while the body is much better preserved than new cars bought from showrooms.

Rover 75 safety systems

The security system of the Rover 75 was not spared either. The engineers paid maximum attention to protect the passengers of the sedan and their luggage. As already mentioned, the body of the Rover 75 is made of 40% special, ultra-strong alloys. The floor is specially reinforced, beams are installed in the doors, a panel is specially reinforced in the area of the driver's feet. Collectively, if you look, the body of the sedan forms a protective cocoon for passengers.

All doorways of the Rover 75 are reinforced around the perimeter, which avoids the situation of their jamming in the event of an accident. Starting with the basic configuration of the Rover 75, front and side airbags are installed, and the seats are designed to prevent the passenger from slipping under the seat belt.

No less attention was paid to the active safety system of the Rover 75. The standard set of the sedan includes ABS, EBD and disc brakes. The top-end configurations of the Rover 75 are equipped with a multi-level security system, an immobilizer and a remote control with a constantly changing code.

Price and configuration of Rover 75

Since today the company has ceased to exist and no longer produces cars, only supported cars can be found for the Rover 75, but given the original body structure and the quality of the materials used, many copies have survived to this day in excellent condition.

In total, three different configurations of the Rover 75 were produced:

  • Classic;
  • Club;
  • Connoisseur.

To date, you can buy the latest generation Rover 75 in Russia at a price of about 300,000- 460,000 rubles. Much will depend on the configuration and safety of the car, but in general, such a luxury will not cost much even for the maximum configuration.

Conclusion on the Rover 75 is a balanced vehicle that combines rich luxury, aristocratic styling and austere British design at the same time. A good choice of engines, followed by technical characteristics, but fuel consumption in some cases leaves much to be desired.
