Compared to the "civilian" BMW 3-Series, the M340i will receive a high-performance power plant, intelligent all-wheel drive, a redesigned chassis and braking system, as well as a number of visual differences that are unique to the M-series models.

According to the manufacturer, the main competitors of the novelty are such models as the Audi S4 and Mercedes AMG C43 4Matic, allowing you to put the speedometer needle to 100 km / h in just 4.7 seconds. Whether BMW will be able to overcome this mark faster, we will tell during the review.

From the point of view of exterior design, the new BMW M340i xDrive almost completely repeats the solutions of the "civilian" version of the troika with a pre-installed M-package. Nevertheless, the car received a number of unique elements that allow you to instantly identify a novelty in city traffic.

"Muzzle" of the car demonstrates the menacing look of LED optics, massive "nostrils" of the false radiator grille with original trim, as well as a powerful front bumper with three large sections of air intakes and a mass of aerodynamic elements.

It is also worth highlighting the presence of a muscular hood and the company's corporate logo located on it.

Profile of a "charged" sedan It is distinguished by the presence of a long bonnet, massive wheel arches, a domed roof and embossed sidewalls. In addition, the manufacturer has not forgotten about the brand nameplates "M" and exclusive 18-inch wheels wrapped in low-profile rubber.

The interior of the new BMW M340i xDrive Sedan is fully consistent with a premium car - stylish, presentable and modern. When creating the interior, the manufacturer used exclusively premium finishing materials, among which there are: genuine leather, soft plastics, brushed aluminum, natural wood, alcantara and carbon fiber. Special attention should be paid to the ergonomics of the workplace, which can rightfully be considered one of the best in the class.

Driver's seat showcases a 12.3-inch LCD dashboard display, as well as a plump three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with an “M” badge and paddle shifters.

The center console, traditionally for the brand, is turned towards the driver, which facilitates interaction with the 10.25-inch "TV" of the iDrive multimedia center, the music control unit and the climate system.

For front passengers The Bavarians have prepared first-class sports seats with pronounced lateral support, high-quality artificial leather / Alcantara trim and a lot of electrical adjustments.

It is also worth noting the presence of aluminum pads on the pedals, the rest area for the left leg and thresholds, where the latter are supplemented with the name of the model.

Rear sofa theoretically it is able to accommodate three passengers, but in fact only two adult riders can comfortably sit here, because the central third passenger will be greatly hampered by a high transmission tunnel and a shortened airbag.

Trunk volume in the standard position it is equal to 480 liters - it boasts an almost perfect geometry. If necessary, the owner has the ability to fold the backs of the rear sofa (proportion 50:50 or 40:20:40, depending on the version), which in the lowest position form a flat loading area. In addition, there is a hatch in the back seat for transporting long items such as skis.

As in the case of the usual "three", the version of the M340i xDrive offers customers ample opportunity to personalize the interior and a host of optional equipment designed to make the stay in the car even more comfortable.

The new BMW M340i is powered by a high-performance 3-liter TwinPower Turbo "six". The power plant reaches a peak of 374 hp. and 500 Nm of torque, which are transmitted to the wheels through a high-performance 8-speed automatic transmission.

It is noteworthy that already in the base "charged" sedan is equipped with a proprietary xDrive all-wheel drive system, which in normal conditions supplies torque to the front and rear axles in a ratio of 40 to 60. However, if necessary, all the torque can be directed to any of the axes.

The combined fuel consumption of a "charged" М340i does not exceed 7.6 liters for every 100 km of trackwhich is even less than the fuel consumption of some competitors equipped with a smaller and more powerful engine.

Special attention should be paid to the presence of an electronically controlled rear differential and a standard independent suspension "M-Sport". The manufacturer installed the classic MacPherson struts on the front axle, and a multi-link design on the rear axle.

The steering is complemented by a variable electric power steering, and the braking system is represented by high-performance mechanisms: front with 4 calipers and 348-mm discs, and rear - single-piston calipers and 345-mm discs.

Unfortunately, the future price of the novelty has not yet been announced, but it is unlikely that it will be much lower than the price of the BMW M4 Coupe, the cost of which in Russia starts at 4.79 million rubles.
