Officially presented for the first time the Mazda 3 model back in 2003, the car has traveled more than one way and received many modifications. Now the Japanese manufacturer has officially presented the new generation of Mazda 3 for Europe. The start of sales of the new Mazda 3 is expected in mid-2019; according to all data, configurations with two gasoline units and one diesel unit will be available. It should be noted that one of the gasoline engines is turbocharged and belongs to the SkyActiv-X family. On the body, as before, a hatchback and a sedan are available.
The appearance of the new Mazda 3 has really become expressive, modern and stylish, while the previous generation and the style of the third series are well recognized. The hatchback turned out to be the most unusual of all, the designers added an inclined part at the back and more expressive sports forms to it. Up front, updated LED optics and grille have been added. As a result of such improvements, the design of the new Mazda 3 has been refreshed for the better. You can paint the body of the Mazda 3 in one of 9 shades (for a hatchback) and 8 shades for a sedan. In addition, the designers have installed new 16 "alloy wheels as standard or 18" as an option. The colors of such wheels can be silver, dark gray or black. The interior of the new European Mazda 3 reminds many of the previous generation, but modernized to a modern motive. The very top of the front panel is decorated with a small 8.8 ″ display of the multimedia system, with simultaneous support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Below the center console, there is a climate control panel and a small recess for all sorts of charges. The designers decorated the central tunnel of the new Mazda with a transmission lever, a multimedia control washer, an electromechanical handbrake and a few more buttons for controlling car functions. The Mazda 3 dashboard also underwent a slight upgrade, depending on the configuration, it can be analog or fully digital with a 7 ″ display. Interestingly, the designers placed two air ducts on the sides of the panel, thereby separating the central ones on the main console.
The steering wheel of the new Mazda 3 2019 has also been revised, according to the functional set, there are gearshift paddles, functional buttons for controlling car systems, as well as high-quality leather steering wheel trim. As for the interior itself, the designers used high-quality fabric or leather with perforated inserts as upholstery. By color, the interior trim of the Mazda 3 is available in black, brown or white, although the option of individual selection of interior colors is not excluded.
The technical part of the Mazda 3 was also not spared. As already mentioned, one diesel and two gasoline engines are provided to choose from. The diesel belongs to the SkyActiv-D family, with a volume of 1.8 liters and a capacity of 116 horses. According to the manufacturer, the maximum torque of such a unit is 270 Nm. In turn, it replaced the 1.5 and 2.0 liter diesel engines that are installed on the current model. As tests show, the new Mazda diesel engine is much more economical, in the combined cycle, according to the WLTP standard, the engine consumes 4.7 liters of diesel fuel per 100 kilometers. CO2 emissions are 130 g / km. Thanks to the use of a new technology of multistage combustion, detonation noise has been reduced, as well as the period of fuel combustion.
As for the petrol units, there are two options: SkyAvtive-G 2.0L and SkyActive-X, both of which use the Hybrid system powered by 24V lithium-ion battery. The power of the two-liter Mazda 3 engine is 122 horses and 213 Nm of torque. According to measurements, the average fuel consumption is 6 liters per 100 km, and the CO2 emissions are 136 g / km. Another plus is the presence of a cylinder control system, due to which fuel is saved at low speeds. The system can switch off two cylinders or activate all 4 cylinders if necessary. The SkyActiv-X engine has become much more progressive. The main trick of this unit is the compression ignition control. Regardless of the engine chosen, a 6-speed mechanics will be installed in the pair; as an option, they suggest installing 6 tbsp. automatic transmission. Another plus will affect the configuration of the Mazda 3 with a Skyactiv-X engine in the hatchback body, this model will receive all-wheel drive, and not front-wheel drive, like most. In addition to the technical part, the engineers have improved the security systems well, the list of the new Mazda 3 includes:
- driver fatigue monitoring;
- front cross traffic control;
- speed control, all-round visibility system;
- modern adaptive LED optics;

- GVC Plus system (improving handling and grip on road surfaces).
